[Verse 1] I wake up in the morning in my own bed I stretch out I stand up the blood rushes to my head I'm comfortable being alone I take up space, fill every drawer How beautiful it is to feel free. I'm learning a bit more everyday About myself and my foolish ways But, hey, I couldn't ask for anything better. Someday I hope to be with somebody who believes in me but first, I got to believe in me. [Pre-Chorus] Now and then you come across my mind I'm not trying to get all sentimental. I'm just wondering when and where's the time That I'll find somebody who's gentle. [Chorus] And maybe you'll find somebody new I can't blame you for doin' what you do. And maybe I'll find somebody right Who's just my type I'll keep on pushing through And you keep doin' what you do. [Verse 2] I come home in the evening from a long day I sit down, ain't nobody gettin' in my way. I'm comfortable with who I am don't need no woman need no man to make me feel like I'm free. I'm learning a bit more everyday about myself and my foolish ways but, hey, I couldn't ask for anything better. And everyday I'm trying to be Somebody who believes in me 'Cause baby, I've got to be me. [Interlude into Tamia's "So into You] I think you're truly something special Just what my dreams are really made of Let's get together you and me boy There's no one like you around. 'Cause I really like what you've done to me I can't really explain it I am so into you I really like what you've done to me I can't really explain it I am so into you I really like what you've done to me I can't really explain it And you'll keep doin' what you do.

[Chorus] Right now you're sleeping with her, but I am wearing your shirt. You should be sleeping with me, but I'm alone in these sheets. [Verse] It's been a while since we've been together at an intimate capacity. I know it's taken so long to figure out how to right all your wrongs. [Pre-Chorus] And I've been feeling down you're not around and I feel blue sleeping without you. [Chorus] Right now you're sleeping with her, but I am wearing your shirt. You should be sleeping with me, but I'm alone in these sheets. [Pre-Chorus] And I've been feeling down you're not around and I feel blue sleeping without you. [Outro] We should be sleeping... I should be sleeping... Right you're sleeping... Right now I'm dreamin... We should be sleeping... I should be sleeping... Right now I'm dreamin... I should be sleeping alone.

[Verse 1] Bitter will I become? When I am older and life is coming undone? Lonely, will I be? In the same room as my honey? [Chorus] What will I be when I'm 63? What will I be oh when I can no longer [Verse 2] See so clear or hear so well and I am breathing through lungs that can't quite yell like they used to back in the day when I was singing those songs up on that stage [Chorus] What will I be when I'm 63? What will I be oh when I can no longer sleep? [Interlude] [Chorus] What will I be when I'm 63? What will I be oh when I can no longer [Verse 3] Keep quiet to myself and I am losing my mind, losing my health. When all is said and done can I say that I lived a life of love? [Chorus] What will I be when I'm 63? What will I be oh will I be happy?

[Verse 1] Give me a few of your dollars if you have some to spare. I'll pack my bags, grab my passport and I'll go anywhere. No it's not what you think, it's what you do, and we've got so much time that we don't want to lose. So get movin' gotta catch that flight, 'cause we'll be gone tonight. [Chorus] I always wondered when I'd finally cross the sea. And now it's happened and my life's become a dream. When I fly way up high, dancing through these velvet skies Gotta get out there and see the world While it still turns [Verse 2] Give me a million reasons well I only need one to play a little rock music while we're chasing the sun. No it's not what you say it's how you say it. I don't know how else I can explain it. Get movin' gotta catch that train, 'cause we'll be gone today. [Chorus] I always wondered when I'd finally cross the sea. And now it's happened and my life's become a dream. When I fly way up high, dancing through these velvet skies Gotta get out there and see the world While it still turns [Verse] Give me a few of your dollars if you have some to spare. I'll pack my bags, grab my passport and I'll go anywhere. No it's not what you think, it's how you love, we've gotta get movin' give thanks from above. So get movin' gotta catch that flight, 'cause we'll be gone tonight.

about

Soulful, thoughtful, and honest, "Bittersweet" is a time-capsule of songs written throughout my late college years and recorded weeks before graduation. The first two tracks "Doin' What You Do" and "Sleeping Alone" are heavily influenced by modern R&B and neo-soul artists such as Nai Palm and Emily King. The title track "Bittersweet" connects closer to my folk roots while "Passport Check" fits perfectly at the convergence of story telling and my jazz training. My band is a group of fiercely talented and ultra chill people who have been with me since day 1 of college and we've gotten to see each other bloom and grow and know each other through playing together. I am so grateful to have them on this project and bring these songs to life.
